Airdrie boss urges 'complete performance' in bid to play out of trouble
Danny Lennon says his side too often only start playing after they concede
Danny Lennon admits he needs Airdrie to put in a complete performance to get them out of trouble in the Championship.
The Diamonds are yet to win a game this season, and fell to a heavy 4-2 defeat at Ayr United on Saturday, leaving them at the bottom of the table, a point behind struggling Ross County.
Former St Mirren and Clyde gaffer Lennon says it’s not panic stations yet, but told club media: “We’ll work on the things that went wrong for us and we’ll work on them on the training ground next week.
“We will aim to work towards getting an overall performance that’s going to get us out of the traps from the first whistle, and compete.
“We compete very well once we go goals down, and that’s just a little mental block I think we have at this minute in time, and that’s up to me, and on me, to find a solution for that.”
Dougie Imrie’s Greenock side head for New Broomfield on Saturday, having drawn 1-1 at home to Ross County on Saturday, and Lennon said: “We’ve still got a lot of games and there are a lot of points to play for.
“For me, in terms of where we are since I’ve come through the door, I’ve been absolutely delighted with the progress the players are making on the training pitch, on evidence of what I’ve seen in long periods of the games against Partick Thistle and Raith Rovers and St Johnstone, against three top sides.

“Where I see us at this minute in time, in terms of those three teams I’d mentioned, I’ve seen enough evidence and progress within those periods to say we’re on the right track.
“If we continue to stay on that track, and on that journey, there is no doubt in my mind that points will come along with those performances.
“We’ve just got to try and get them more consistent.”
Airdrie handed a debut to 17-year-old striker Divine Iserhienrhien for the last four minutes of Saturday’s defeat, and Lennon said: “If we can take any positive from Saturday it was young Divine coming on.
“He’s done well for the under-19s, that’s an area that we’re a little bit short on and I just felt as the game was going on, it was a great opportunity to give the lad a little flavour, a little reward for his hard work, and let’s see where that takes him.”
