Ally McCoist screams Rangers injustice over 'one of the worst decisions' ever in Celtic defeat

Upset Ally McCoist reckons Rangers were on the receiving end of one of worst decisions in recent memory in their action-packed 3-1 Premier Sports Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic.

The Ibrox legend was left aghast after Hoops defender Auston Trusty escaped with only a yellow card from referee Nick Walsh and catching Jack Butland in the face.

The whistler was not summoned by VAR and the incident has sparked fury at Ibrox as they seek answers from SFA refs chief in the aftermath of the Hampden showpiece.

But McCoist was left gobsmacked by the call which led to Trusty staying on the pitch as he reacted to the big decisions as the Light Blues came up short.

Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist said: "Rangers were miles better after the sending off which, you know, was a sending off. I don't think the lad meant it, but I thought it was a poor tackle and probably was the right decision the sending off.

"And then, remarkably, the referee did not send off the Celtic centre half for deliberately kicking the Rangers goalkeeper in the head. So, it was one of the worst decisions I've seen in a long time. VAR doesn't send them off either.

"And then the game (went back and forth) and Rangers get the penalty late on. There was a bit of debate about that, which I thought was a penalty. There's a surprise. But it was a great game. I mean, a really good game."
