Armed cops cordon off street as man is detained
Emergency services arrived at the scene and a block of flats were reportedly evacuated.
A man has been detained after armed police descended on a street in a 'tight-knit' residential area, while a block of flats has been reportedly evacuated during the incident.
Emergency services were called to an area of Liverpool today (Monday, November 3) where several police vans, a fire engine and an ambulance remained at the scene.
Arncliffe Road in Halewood had been cordoned off with Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service all in attendance, the ECHO reports.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm officers are currently in Halewood today, Monday 3 November. At around 10.20am we received a report of report of a domestic incident inside a flat on Camborne Avenue. There is no wider concern to the public.
"Officers are still at the scene with road closures in place in surrounding area.
"We thank the community for their patience and ask people to avoid the area while we deal with this incident."
One local said: “I’ve lived here for 8 years. I moved from Mossley Hill. It’s a really tight knit community. We all have cameras. You only come down here for a reason. It’s a good job the school is closed.”
And another eye witness, who lives on the street, said: “Police have been here for hours. Everyone has been evacuated out of the block.
"I heard arguing earlier I went out for a job. On my way back, I saw police flying down Macket’s Lane and thought, I bet they’re coming here."
And a worried dad walking past Arncliffe Road said: “My son lives in one of the flats there. They’ve told him he can’t go back in. They’re right by his bedroom window.”
