Bobby Clark 'to sign for Celtic' as Salzburg star lined up for £6million transfer blockbuster
The 20-year-old left Anfield in a £10million deal in the summer of 2024
Former Liverpool rising star Bobby Clark is on the brink of signing for Celtic from Red Bull Salzburg - according to a report.
The 20-year-old left Anfield in a £10million deal in the summer of 2024 as he joined former coach Pep Ljinders in Austria but returned to Britain to join Derby County on loan in the summer.
Now The Times state Brendan Rodgers is on the brink of landing the versatile midfielder for £6million in January as he seeks a permanent move away from Salzburg.
Clark - son of former Kilmarnock boss Lee – was regarded as one of the finest teenage talents in Europe and has been capped at youth level by England at U16s upwards. Jurgen Klopp placed his faith in Clark with 15 appearances across his final season at Anfield.
Ljinders waxed lyrical about the signing of Clark before he was relieved of his duties last season. He said: “He wants to score, wants to create, he is a typical English player… unpredictable on the ball. We love that he was interested in playing for me and Vitor, that’s really cool. It is not easy to sign the best talents but with him, we got one.”
Rodgers has been seeking added quality and it comes after admitting the need to be quicker out the blocks after the club were panned over an ill-fated summer transfer window.
