Livid Luke Littler fires back at 'show off' jibe with brutal response to former darts pro
The Nuke blasts off at cutting remark towards him and another towards Stephen Bunting
Livid Luke Littler has launched a brutal response to former pro Andy Cornwall for calling him a ‘show off.”
The Nuke is heading to Dortmund to try and add the European Darts Championship to his CV and rocket to World No.1 in the rankings.
However, Littler’s recent appearance in the World Youth Championships brought a comment which has seen him fire a fiery response.
The World Champ was sensationally dumped out in the semi-finals by Beau Greaves, but ex-pro Cornwall hit out at the teenager’s decision to take part insisting the superstar should have stepped aside after winning the World Championship in January.
He told Mission Darts Podcast: “Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. It was a bit like: Look at me, look at me, look at me. Everything is about me. I didn’t like it one little bit.
“Somebody should have got hold of him and said: You’re doing the wrong thing here, Luke. You’re taking away somebody else’s chance. I don’t like it. I think he went to show off. I was glad he got beat.”
Littler roared back to that on his Instagram page and retorted: “Andy Cornwall (apparently a darts coach or does work for darts corner or something) seen he said something about Bunting yesterday about where he stands and stuff and now saying stuff about me, what an absolute helmet of a bloke and I don’t know him.”
Cornwall’s comments on Stephen Bunting suggested he would never win multiple majors because of his stance.
On the podcast, he said: “He stands in the wrong place. Sorry, but you’re never going to be consistent standing two foot to the right of the oche. You’re not.
“You’re a brilliant player, a thousand times better than what I ever was. But you are not going to be as consistent as a Michael van Gerwen, a Luke Littler, a Luke Humphries who’s standing in the middle.
“Both sides of the board are the same distance. Standing two foot to the right is ridiculous and you’re never going to win multiple majors. Sorry, that’s my rant about Stephen.
“He’s going to have times when he’s buzzing and beats everybody and he’s going to have times when he’s not quite on.”
Littler begians his bid for the title in Dortmund against Raymond van Barneveld on Friday night with Bunting playing on Thursday night against Chris Dobey.
