Man appears in court charged with murder of NHS worker found dead after flat fire
Callum Miller has been charged with the murder of Natalie Egan on October 31.
A man has been charged with the murder of a woman who was found dead following a flat fire in Dundee.
Emergency crews raced to Byron Street on Friday October 31 at around 7.25am after receiving reports of a property on fire. The blaze was extinguished and the body of 37-year-old Natalie Egan was discovered inside.
Callum Miller, 26, of Dundee, is accused of murdering Ms Egan by stabbing her repeatedly. He was also charged with two counts of theft and the theft of a motor vehicle.
Miller did not appear in the dock after refusing to come out of his cell for the murder petition.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody. He is expected to appear in court again within the next eight days.
Police said the NHS worker's death was being treated as murder following a post-mortem examination. Her family, from Glenrothes, are being supported by specially trained officers.
Forensic officers were seen scouring the area outside a number of properties across Byron Street, Kenmore Street and Glenagnes Road in Blackness last week.
Officers in white suits could be seen holding bags of evidence outside in the street. Emergency medical kits were also seen lying on the pavement nearby.
A cordon was in force around a property block, with officers seen stationed by it, while another officer stood guard outside the front door of an upper cottage flat.
Heartfelt tributes were paid to Natalie on social media following the tragic news.
