Nail tech baffled after client's strange response to being asked for payment

A nail tech has shared a video of the moment she asked her client to pay for her manicure, only for the woman to have a bizarre response, leaving her speechless

A nail technician was left speechless when a customer tried to dodge paying the full service fee, insisting that she thought the deposit was the total cost and she had "already paid" it. The worker at Glaze Nail Studio in Australia revealed that she recently began recording her appointments, a common practice among nail technicians for self-critique or social media sharing.


However, she was taken aback when she captured this particular exchange on camera, overlaying the video with the text: "I wish this was a skit." The footage shows the nail technician informing the client that she had "finished" her nails, to which the customer expressed gratitude for the meticulous work done.

But the situation quickly soured when she asked, "How do you wanna pay? Just like you usually do on card?" and the client seemed confused by the question.

The nail technician clarified that "you pay half online" as a deposit, but the client insisted she believed that was "the full amount".

Attempting to give her the benefit of the doubt, the nail technician smiled at her, adding a caption to the video stating she felt "confused at this point," especially since the woman was not a first-time customer.


She patiently explained the payment process, stating that customers pay 50% "to secure the booking" and then settle the remaining balance upon completion of the service.

The client then admitted she hadn't read the details on the booking website properly.

The nail technician explained that the set was priced at $100AUD (£48.64) due to its "very detailed" design. The customer queried: "Yeah, I don't know about that. Are you sure $50AUD doesn't cover it?".


"No. What do you mean?" the nail tech retorted, her patience wearing thin.

She then questioned if her client was "joking," reminding her that she'd been a customer before and should understand the pricing.

Following an uncomfortable silence, the client criticised the nails as not being "that good" to warrant such a high price, insisting they weren't "perfect" for the cost.


At this point, the nail tech was left "speechless", unsure how to respond to the harsh critique.

She asked if her client was serious, overlaying the video with text: "At this point, I was hoping she would start laughing and say she was joking.

"I just thought they were going to be $50AUD, so are you happy to just leave it at that?" the client attempted once more, to which the nail tech firmly declined.


"You're gonna have to pay, otherwise I'm gonna have to chop them off," she vented.

"Take them off, they're not that good," the client delivered one final insult to the nail tech, ending the video on a sour note.

In the comments section, one user wrote: "My Biab with nail art on every nail only costs me £38."


Another encouraged viewers to "Google the exchange rate".

"As someone from the UK, I'm embarrassed by all the comments. Hasn't anyone noticed the location and know what an exchange rate is?" another quipped.

One woman commented: "But having your nails taken off is also a treatment, so that has cost you even more money, but I understand why you did it. I suppose you were in a lose-lose situation."

A TikTok user retorted: "Not really, she probably just used nail clippers and chopped them off rather than doing a soak off or full removal. She's obviously not going to perform an extra service for free, the client can't leave with the nails intact, though, or they're basically getting away with it!"
