Police probing case of missing Allan Bryant renew appeal on 12th anniversary of disappearance
Allan was 23-years-old when he went missing after a night out in Glenrothes in Fife on Sunday, November 3, 2013.
Detectives probing the case of missing Allan Bryant have renewed their appeal for his whereabouts on the 12th anniversary of his disappearance.
Allan was 23-years-old when he went missing after a night out in Glenrothes in Fife on Sunday, November 3, 2013. The last known sighting of Allan was on CCTV, where he was seen leaving Styx nightclub on the town's Caskieberran Road at around 2am that night - just a mile from his home.
Extensive inquiries have been carried out to trace Allan, however, he has not been seen or heard from since. Police have said that any new piece of information from the public will be assessed.
Allan's father, Allan senior, has pleaded with the public to come forward with any information about his son's disappearance.
In a statement issued via Police Scotland, he said: "Ambiguous Loss is the worst thing any parent can go through, not knowing what happened to our son Allan or where he is.
"Every year gets harder and I want to ask anyone who knows something to get in touch with the police. We need to know what happened and hope someone can help."
Last year, a four-day search was carried out at Auchtermuchty Common in Cupar.
The beauty spot was taped off by police and combed over by forensic teams.
Despite the activity, officers confirmed nothing was found.
Four years ago, on the tenth anniversary of Allan's disappearance, Allan snr told the Record that he believed a woman's screams could be vital to the police investigation.
The dad explained how a local had told him about a woman screaming in the early hours of the morning his son vanished between 3am to 8am.
The witness said it was not normal screaming and could be heard five streets away. They said it sounded hysterical - as if something really bad had happened in the area.
Speaking to the Record at the time, the father told us: "Never did we think we would still be searching for our son 10 years on. All we need is closure. We need the truth. We need Allan back.
"My family have been through so much the last 10 years, watching the police divers search ponds, rivers, wells, quarries and woodland and so many other places.
"Praying each time they will find Allan and the disappointment and heartache when they don't."
Detective Inspector Steven McLean, said: "Our aim remains to find answers for Allan's family and officers continue to support them and seek to find out where their son went after being seen at Styx.
"We believe the answer lies within the community and if you have information that could help and have not already spoken to us then please get in touch.
“In particular, make contact with us if you spoke to Allan that night or saw which direction he took after leaving the nightclub as even a small piece of information could prove to be vital.
"The anniversary of Allan's disappearance does not get any easier for his family so please call 101 or email OperationToner@scotland.police.uk if you can help."
