Rangers ultra punches man in street before Celtic semi-final as cops follow 'positive line of enquiry'

The man was punched to the ground on Victoria Road in the south side of Glasgow on Sunday.

Police are following a 'positive line of enquiry' after a man was filmed being punched to the ground as the Union Bears marched to Hampden.

The incident happened on Victoria Road in Glasgow at around 12pm on Sunday, November 2, as the Rangers ultras made their way to the national stadium for the crunch semi-final clash with Celtic.

No information is available on the injuries the man sustained after being assaulted.

Footage circulating online shows a large crowd, dressed in black, marching along the main road in the south side of the city as traffic builds up behind them.

The victim of the assault, also dressed in black, stands in front of them holding alot one of his arms.

One of the individuals on the Union Bears march skips towards him with his fists clenched, before throwing a single punch at the man's face.

He crumples in a heep on the road, as one of the marchers stands over him and appears to taunt him as he lies on the ground.

The video continues as the man who threw the punch walks ahead of the group holding what appears to be a take-away cup of coffee.

The clip ends as he turns around and passes the cup towards another member of the group and reaches into his pocket.

After the match Police Scotland escorted the Union Bears as they returned to Victoria Road, passing the Queen's Park Cafe pub popular with Celtic fans.

Celtic ran out 3-1 winners in extra-time in the controversial League Cup semi-final with both sets of supporters furious at decisons made by the referee Nick Walsh during the game.

Ibrox chiefs have complained to the SFA’s head of refereeing but Record Sport understands Hampden bosses have no plans to respond publicly to Rangers request for answers.

Meanwhile, Celtic's Green Brigade and Bhoys ultras decided not to attend the fixture after the club's allocation was cut by 500 seats due to previous pyrotechnic offences.
