Docherty wants to bring in the Northern Ireland international to compete with the No. 1 spot with Ross Laidlaw.

Dundee actually accepted a loan offer from County of Carson during the transfer window.

It was under former boss Don Cowie but the keeper knocked back the move, at that point.

Docherty is hoping his relationship with him can convince him to make the move to the Highlands at the second time of asking.

Carson, who has had spells at Motherwell, St Mirren and Dundee United, has also fallen behind Jon McCracken in the pecking order at Dundee.

Docherty haș also already snapped up his former Dundee midfielder Scott Fraser, as a free agent.
