Ryan Edwards closes in on Falkirk transfer as veteran defender poised to make Premiership return
Edwards has been without a club since his exit from Chennaiyin in India earlier this year
Falkirk are trying to seal a deal to bring Ryan Edwards back to the Scottish Premiership.
John McGlynn is looking to sign the experienced defender on a short-term deal.
The centre half previously had a three year spell at Dundee United.
The 32-year-old is a free agent after he left Indian Super League side Chennaiyin earlier this year.
McGlynn has turned to Edwards because he has something of a defensive crisis.
Centre halves Coll Donaldson, Tom Lang and Lewis Neilson are all out, along with left-back Leon McCann.
McGlynn is looking to get the Englishman in ahead of Saturday’s league clash with Kilmarnock.
Edwards has huge experience, coming through at Blackburn Rovers and then he moved on to Morecambe, Plymouth Argyle and Blackpool before he moved to United in 2020.
He also finished his time at Tannadice as the United captain, although he left after their relegation to the Championship.
The Bairns have made a solid start in their first season back in the top-flight.
They lost to Celtic last night but they currently sit seventh and are only three points behind third-placed Rangers.
Edwards had three years in India but has since decided to return to the United Kingdom for family reasons and to get back playing here.
