Samsung rivals Apple iPhone 17 with £23 Galaxy S25 deal and £370 giveaway

Apple may have unveiled its iPhone 17 line-up, but Samsung is giving away a free tech bundle with the Galaxy S25 FE to entice shoppers

Samsung has launched a new addition to its Galaxy smartphone series to rival Apple's iPhone 17. Earlier this month, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S25 FE, dubbed the 'newest and most attainable addition to the Galaxy S25 lineup'.

It came just days ahead of Apple's annual showcase, where the tech giant finally revealed its latest smartphones including the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air. Pre-orders for the new iPhones are live now at retailers including Sky Mobile, Mobiles.co.uk and Amazon, but Android fans may be tempted by the latest member of Samsung's Galaxy S25 family.

The S25 FE is part of Samsung's budget-friendly 'Fan Edition' series and starts at £649 from Samsung and Amazon, £150 less than the iPhone 17. For shoppers who prefer to spread the cost with a contract, Sky Mobile's £23 launch deal offers £368 worth of freebies including a free Galaxy Watch7 and a pair of free Galaxy Buds3 FE.

The phone includes a 100MB data allowance, but for those requiring more data, Sky's data plans offer 3GB for £6 or 50GB for £12. One important factor to consider is that Sky's £23 deal is based on a 36-month contract, but customers can switch to a new phone anytime after 24 months without any additional charges.

While the more affordable S25 FE may not be as powerful as the new iPhone 17 range, it still delivers impressive features. It boasts a 6.7" dynamic AMOLED 2X display, 12MP ultra-wide camera and 50MP wide camera, plus 256GB of storage, a robust 4,900 mAh battery and an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, reports the Mirror.

Sky Mobile shoppers ordering a Samsung Galaxy S25 FE can get a free Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Buds3 FE at no extra cost.

The phone also comes with a range of Galaxy AI functions such as Generative Edit and Circle to Search, in addition to Google's AI-powered Gemini Live. All these features are encased in an enhanced Armor Aluminum frame with a slim, lightweight design and available in four colours: Icyblue, Jetblack, Navy and White.

Meanwhile, Currys-backed retailer Mobiles.co.uk is offering the device on iD Mobile's £26.99 unlimited data package, though this doesn't come with free earbuds. Unveiling the latest model, Jay Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, said: "Galaxy S25 FE plays an important role as a gateway into the broader Galaxy AI ecosystem, making these experiences more attainable for a wider range of users.

"With expanded personalised AI experiences and AI-powered photography and editing tools, Galaxy S25 FE empowers more people to bring greater convenience and creativity into their everyday lives."

Ahead of its launch, Daily Express Tech Editor Dave Snelling tested the Galaxy S25 FE personally, saying: "The new S25 FE is another decent device from Samsung. It feels super premium in the hand and has a pixel-packed 6.7-inch display. There are all the AI smarts found on the standard S25, including full Google Gemini access, plus other features such as fast charging and a toughened design.

"No, it doesn't get the impressive Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the cameras can't match the Ultra and there are less colour choices but if those things don't worry you then the FE is one to watch out for. The only issues from my short time with this phone could be that it only comes in one large screen size, and it is still pretty expensive

"Samsung has got some promotional offers, but I can't help thinking a £599 price tag would seem more appealing."
