Scottish teen Lego builder shows his amazing creations in global showcase
The 19 year old from Edinburgh was chosen thanks the skill and passion he puts into his builds.
A Scottish teen has been featured in a global showcase of the world's top Lego builders. He described the honour as "special" and "exciting".
Kit Nugent, 19, has taken his creativity from local fan competitions to a global stage. The young Lego builder from Edinburgh has been selected to feature in the Masterpiece Gallery 2025 at Lego House in Billund, Denmark.
The 2025–2026 edition of the Masterpiece Gallery brings together 17 Adult Fans of Lego (AFOLs) from 12 countries across the world. The exhibition pushes the boundaries of what is possible with Lego bricks, featuring monumental sculptures, wearable gowns, intricate mosaics, whimsical vignettes, and even kinetic art.
One of the 17 adults included in this year's lineup, Nugent was praised for his skill, imagination, and passion. His standout creations include a character-driven Lego scene inspired by Hemingway’s classic The Old Man and the Sea, playful portraits of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson using unexpected Lego pieces, and a cottage roof crafted from more than 1,000 mini figure wands.
This year, all exhibitors are offered a fast-track invitation to a LEGO Designer Talent Pool 'Play Date'. This opens the potential to attain a job within the Lego group product design department, recognising the professional calibre of their craft.
Meanwhile, this year's Masterpiece Gallery introduces a new mix of wall-mounted 2D and 3D artworks. Visitors can scan QR codes for interviews and behind-the-scenes build stories.
Nugent commented: "My interest in playing with and building LEGO started as I expect it does with the majority of children—a gift of a LEGO set. The feeling of accomplishment after finishing a set kept me building, and before long I was disassembling models to create my own builds.
"When my neighbours emigrated, they left behind their son’s LEGO bricks, but crucially without the instructions, and there were endless possibilities that truly established my MOC (My Own Creation) journey.
"I love the problem-solving process of building MOCs, and I am fascinated by the endless possible combinations of bricks and colours, as well as the way that aesthetics and novelty influence the final outcome.

He added: "The younger me anticipated how special it would feel to exhibit in the LEGO House and I am delighted to now confirm that it feels every bit as special as hoped! The invitation to exhibit was both daunting and exciting.
"My models are in the Masterpiece Gallery 2025-26 alongside the work of 16 other builders from around the world and being in such illustrious company is awe inspiring.
"For me, the Masterpiece Gallery evidences the range of creative pathways that LEGO can nurture lifelong building."
In addition to Scotland, creations at the 2025–2026 edition of the Masterpiece Gallery come from Japan, USA, China, Finland, Norway, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Australia, and Mexico. Five builders are also fresh from international LEGO Masters competitions.
Nugent's creations will be displayed exclusively at Lego House until September 2026. More information can be found on the Lego House website.
