Virgin Media's fastest broadband falls to 'lowest price' ever beating Sky and BT

Virgin is taking on Sky and BT as its fastest broadband falls to the cheapest price ever

Virgin Media has slashed its fastest fibre broadband plans to their 'lowest price' ever. Earlier this month, the provider reduced its M500 Fibre Broadband plan, offering 516Mbps for £27.99 per month.

It also began offering the Gig1 Fibre Broadband plan for £29.99, which delivers an even speedier 1,130Mbps. Virgin has announced that both of these options are the ‘lowest price’ ever offered on the site.

Customers signing up to either of these plans will also receive a free subscription to Netflix Standard with Ads, something previously only included in Virgin’s most pricey TV bundles. This saves Netflix members £143.76 over the life of Virgin’s 24-month contract compared to the cost of subscribing directly.

Anyone securing the Gig1 Fibre Broadband plan will also benefit from Virgin’s WiFi guarantee, which usually costs £8 extra and offers a £100 bill credit should speeds not meet the minimum of 30Mbps in every room. Virgin does offer cheaper packages for those who don’t need the fastest options, such as 132Mbps for £23.99, but customers won’t get a free Netflix subscription with this.

It’s worth remembering that Virgin Media is one of many providers which increases its prices each year. It has already confirmed that those on its £27.99 plan will see their bills rise to £31.99 from April 2026 and £35.99 from April 2027.

Virgin Media has slashed its 'lowest price' broadband to £27.99 per month and is throwing in a free Netflix subscription.

Here’s a closer look at Virgin’s cheapest ever broadband:

M500 + Netflix Fibre Broadband – £27.99

  • 500Mbps average download speed.
  • Netflix standard with ads.

Gig1 + Netflix Fibre Broadband – £29.99

  • 1,130Mbps average download speed.
  • Netflix Standard with Ads.
  • Virgin’s WiFi guarantee.

These deals rival similar offers from Sky, which includes Netflix with all of its Sky Stream packages, but where 900Mbps broadband would set shoppers back £40 per month. Virgin also beats BT, where £28.99 will only provide 150Mbps.

Virgin Media has received thousands of positive reviews on Trustpilot, with one saying: “The service has been faultless for the last 18 months and the broadband is easily fast enough for our family.”

Another commented: “My internet and TV almost never go down and if they do it’s always fixed within a couple of hours. I get the speeds and services as advertised, and although you’ll never get the introductory price again, I’m staying with them for the value of having exceptional service in every way.”

This customer left a more mixed three-star review, writing: “The broadband is five-star every day of the week. The customer service is one-star.”

While this five-star review reads: “Brilliant speeds and great customer service, have been with these guys for 15 years. Had an issue and it was resolved in 24 hours, the only issue I have had in 15 years.”
